If the Hubble constant has a value of 100 km s−1 Mpc−1 calculate the distance to the galaxy in Mpc.? - should i get an mpc 100 or ableton live

A few spectral line of hydrogen has been measured at a wavelength of 434.2 nm, in the laboratory. In the spectrum of a particular distant galaxy, the spectral line has a wavelength of 455.9 nm

  1. Hello,
    You need the Hubble law:

    d = cz/H_0

    d = distance of the galaxy
    c = speed of light
    Redshift z =
    H 0 = Hubble costante

    The offset is defined as
    z = (lamda_o, lamda_l) / lamba_l
    lamda_o observation wavelength =
    lamda_l = wavelength measured in the laboratory

    Where
    z = (455.9-434.2) / 434.2 = 0.0500
    Thus, the distance:
    d = cz/H_0 = 150Mpc

    Bye!
